Description: About The 20th World Orchid Conference (20WOC)
The 20th World Orchid Conference (20WOC), an iconic triennial international event in the world’s floricultural calendar held from 13 – 20 November, is excited to present a t-shirt design competition for aspiring designers to celebrate and raise awareness of orchids. (The ‘Renanthera 20th WOC Singapore 2011’ orchid seen to the left is a new orchid hybrid named in celebration of the 20th World Orchid Conference).
The 20WOC consists of three components – the conference, World Orchid show and marketplace. It will be hosted at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in the Marina Bay area. The Marina Bay area is located in the heart of Singapore’s city centre and is just a 20-minute ride from Singapore’s Changi Airport.
During the eight-day show, Singaporeans will be treated to a spectacular array of orchid displays with the finest and rarest species and exotic hybrids from around the world.
The World Orchid Show will feature more than 75 stunning displays of orchid species and hybrids by exhibitors from 23 countries that will invigorate the senses of some 300,000 visitors expected at the show.
The marketplace will present visitors with the opportunity to shop for the finest orchid plants, unique orchid-related products and products with exquisite orchid-themed designs by 62 vendors from 14 countries.

20WOC T-Shirt Design Competition
The competition seeks creative individuals to submit t-shirt designs in line with the 20WOC theme ‘A little piece of paradise’ to put a refreshing spin on Singapore’s rich orchid heritage.
A total of four prizes and SGD$4000 will be awarded in two categories ("Editor's Choice" and "Viewer's Choice"). The top design in each category will be awarded SGD$1200, and the runner-up SGD$800. Additionally, winning artists will see their t-shirts sold at 20WOC.
This is an international contest jointly organised by National Parks Board (NParks) and Orchid Society of South East Asia (OSSEA) in collaboration with 9 Fountains.
All artists are invited to submit their artwork from now until 24 October 2011.

In the midst of bustling Singapore, the World Orchid Show provides an escape for people with a unique experience and feast for their senses. Visitors to the 20WOC can find their ‘little piece of paradise’ amidst 16,000 sqm of lush landscape, and be enchanted by the finest and rarest orchids, from contemporary exotic hybrids to the most beautiful of traditional breeds.
We encourage artists looking for inspiration to pay a visit to the National Orchid Garden at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. You may just find your ‘little piece of paradise’ there!
All contest submissions must be entered through our online submission page and must conform to the 9 Fountains Terms and Conditions in order to qualify for entry. Artists may enter multiple submissions. Late submissions will not be accepted. See the "SUBMIT DESIGN" page for submission instructions.
Winner Selection and Prizes
The 10 designs with the most votes upon the close of voting will be presented to our guest panel of judges. The judges will select winners based on a variety of factors including originality, creativity, votes, and the artist's efforts to promote their design.
If your Design is selected for use by 9 Fountains, you hereby grant to 9 Fountains an exclusive right to: (1) reproduce the Design or any parts, alterations or derivatives thereof, in any media or embodiment now known or hereafter to become known (the Products); and (2) publicly display, perform or exhibit, or distribute the Design, as part of the Products, in any way now known or hereafter to become known including without limitation by transmission, broadcast, or electronic communication. Prizes will be divided into two categories – viewer’s choice and editor’s choice. The winner of the top prize in each category will receive SGD$1200, while runner-up will receive SGD$800. Additionally, winning artists will see their t-shirts sold at the 20WOC gift shop and get a commission on sales.
