Mosaic Music Festival is a 10-day annual affair showcasing a host of artistes and bands from Singapore and the region. Initially focusing on world-music and jazz acts, the festival has since extended its music genre to indie-rock, folk, soul, blues, post-rock and even hip-hop. Usually taking place some time between early and mid-March, the Mosaic Music Festival is held at the Esplanade, Singapore's premier cultural, musical and art venue, to ensure that the acts get the full acoustic attention they deserve.
The tickets are costly, but that hasn't stopped the festival from getting sold-out performances every year, earning it a place in the international music scene. Since its inception in 2005, some of the big names that have performed in Mosaic include multi-Grammy award winning hip-hop band The Roots, African world music maestro Dhafer Youssef, jazz legend Harry Connick Jr and experimental indie-pop Of Montreal, indie-folk duo Kings Of Convenience, as well as singer songwriter Rachael Yamagata and Jason Mraz.
The next Mosaic Music Festival will take place from 9-18 March 2012 at various venues at The Esplanade.
