Harry Potter: The Exhibition

For all those who had grown up with the Harry Potter books and films, the epic conclusion of the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 last July must have left some fans wondering whether there would be anything more about the characters they have followed since childhood.

Whether there are any more tales left untold is yet to be known, but local fans of the series have another reason to rejoice - the chance to peer into the famous wizarding world with Harry Potter: The Exhibition. Currently based in Sydney, Australia, the exhibition will open on 2 June 2012 at our very own ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands. For the first time in Asia, fans will enjoy a firsthand look inside the Harry Potter films as they behold the amazing craftsmanship of hundreds of authentic costumes and props from the entire film series.

Gryffindor Dormitory Room

Visitors to the exhibition can look forward to view its magnificent collection of Harry Potter costumes, artifacts, and other memorabilia in wonderfully detailed settings inspired by the film sets. As they tour through the exhibition space, fans will recognize some of their favorite props and costumes from the Harry Potter films, including Harry’s iconic wand and glasses, Professor Snape’s original costume, the Golden Snitch and the Gryffindor school uniforms. Other items to be featured include Sybill Trelawney’s crystal ball and exotic wardrobe; costumes and props from Professors Lupin, Lockhart and Umbridge; items from the Yule Ball, including costumes from such notable characters as Harry, Ron, Hermione and Professor Dumbledore; and life-size creatures, including centaurs, a caged dragon, Buckbeak the Hippogriff, and a giant Acromantula.

Keeping in line with the immersive Harry Potter experience, visitors will be transported to some of their favorite locations in the films via themed settings, including the Gryffindor common room, a Hogwarts classroom, Hagrid’s hut, the Forbidden Forest, the Great Hall, and more. Guests will also experience firsthand a piece of the films with opportunities to pull a Mandrake from its pot in the Herbology vignette, toss a Quaffle in the Quidditch area, and tour Hagrid’s hut.

Harry's wand, glasses, and the Marauder's Map

In addition, Harry Potter: The Exhibition’s stop at the ArtScience Museum will be the first to display a model of Nagini, Lord Voldemort’s serpent and one of the last remaining Horcruxes revealed in the final film, making Singapore’s tour stop the first to feature six of Voldermort’s Horcruxes in one location. The production model of Nagini’s head will be featured alongside a display of Voldemort’s props and costumes.

Sure to delight children and adult fans alike, come down to the ArtScience Museum as the exhibition makes it first stop in Asia this June for an enchanting experience.
