It is the world's biggest aquarium and it holds over 100 000 animals from 800 species of marine life from all over the world. It features mammoth sea creatures ranging from the Goliath grouper and hammerhead sharks, to majestic manta rays, to the kaleidoscope of colourful fish!
Before you head down to the S.E.A Aquarium and discover the wonders of the marine world, here's a quick run-through of some of the highlights of the S.E.A Aquarium.
Strait of Karimata & Java Sea
Explore the fascinating underwater world of the Strait of Karimata, off the coasts of Sumatra, and discover how a shipwreck has developed into a thriving marine habitat. Here, fish and other marine creatures call it home, seeking refuge within and near the shipwreck as they cruise through the Java Sea.
Strait of Malacca & Andaman Sea
The star of the show here is undoubtedly the Discovery Touch Pool! The young and young at heart would love the interactive learning experience and get to touch fascinating sea creatures such as the knobbly sea star, pencil sea urchin and the sea cucumber.
This section also features a glass floor where you'll be able to watch the ocean dwellers traverse right underneath your feet!
Here, you'll have a close-up look of one of the aquarium's most famous residents, the indo-pacific bottlenose dolphins. Take a few moments and marvel at their grace and prowess as they prance about in the water.
Just round the corner, another magical scene awaits you. The sight of a school of fish swimming in unison, is just about as mesmerizing and enthralling as it gets. Then in a blink of an eye, the school of fish change direction, yet none of the fish collide. It is indeed one of nature's wonders.
If the dance of the fish fail to inspire you, then the translucent sea jelly species certainly will. It is a rejuvenating experience watching the sea jelly species' electrifying pulsating dances.
Welcome to the world's largest viewing panel! It is a panorama of deep sea goodness with a diverse collection of marine life. With plenty of comfy sofas and beanbags, soothing instrumental music playing in the background, you can sit back and relax, watch the deep sea wonderland, and let yourself be transported into a magical realm. It is akin to a gigantic, super high definition flat screen television, and you're watching an oceanic blockbuster. It is a therapeutic experience, and on an idyllic quiet weekday, it may just be the perfect spot to cosy up with a book.
No other marine creature evokes fear as much as the shark. But behind the protection of the glass, you'll be safe to marvel at the strength and grace of these creatures. They are one of the long surviving species in the world; they have inhabited the earth for over 420 million years! This exciting walk-through a tunnel of sharks is one that you'll remember forever!
