Food lovers behold, the annual Singapore Food Festival is here once again! Come July, food lovers can look forward to the Singapore Favourite Food Village that is held in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of Singapore Food Festival. Taking place from 12 to 21 July 2013 at Bayfront Avenue (Marina Bay), this 10-day festival celebrates Singapore’s unique food heritage and pays homage to local culinary heroes.
The festival grounds are conveniently located across the Bayfront MRT station and entry is free. In addition, this unique village will be the centre stage for 20 other popular local hawkers and eateries; hence visitors will be spoilt for choice with 40 different local favourite dishes to feast on. The wide variety of Singapore’s favourite dishes will include chilli crab, carrot cake, rojak, laksa, roti prata, popiah, briyani, oyster omelette, hokkien prawn mee, beef noodles, ngor hiang and tau huay.
Before the Singapore Favourite Food Village commences, the hawkers who will display their fares will have been decided. You will have the deciding power by voting online from now till 2 June 2013 for your favourite local vendor in each of the 20 dish categories. The vendor with the most votes in each category will go on to showcase their fare at the Singapore Favourite Food Village. So, if you want your favourite hawker to be present, be sure to cast your vote! Click here to do so now!
Bringing the appreciation of local foods to the masses, Singapore Favourite Food is also holding an Instagram photo contest from now till 30 June 2013. Foodies can simply upload photos of their favourite local dishes (the item must be part of the 20 dishes highlighted in Singapore Favourite Food 2013) and hashtag their submissions with #SingaporeFavouriteFood2013. Upload your pictures now! If your photo is chosen as one of the best, you may walk away with a limited edition Singapore Favourite Food 2013 NETS FlashPay cards with $12 stored value.
Do remember to drop by Singapore Favourite Food Village if you are in Singapore during the festival. You and your tummy will be in for a gastronomic treat!
