Singapore Arts Festival

By: yuhang on 21 Mar 2012
Come and revel in the Singapore Arts Festival and learn more about the artistic and cultural side of Singapore while enjoying performances from international artistes! An initiative by the National Arts Council since 1977, the Singapore Arts Festival started out as a showcase of the country's diverse culture in the arts. Growing over the years, it has morphed into a showcase of the artistic and cultural development of both local and international artistes and performers.

Every year, the Singapore Arts Festival presents an interesting myriad of free or ticketed events that will take place throughout the months, ranging from exhibitions, theatre performances, musical concerts, interactive installations, and modern dance to artistic films, usually performed at the Esplanade Theatre or the School of the Arts (SOTA) Singapore.

You will also get to see some of the greatest works of our local filmmakers at Golden Village Vivocity’s Cinema Europa and get the chance to participate in the activities through community programmes. Expand your knowledge of the various fields of the arts by signing up for performances, talks and panels to pick the minds of Singapore's experts in this field. Talented visitors can also contribute their photos or videos to the competitions and stand to win attractive prizes.

Being the heart of the festival, the Festival Village will host a wide array of exciting things to see and do everyday. Starting from 2011, the Festival Village has also been home to the Kids Arts Village, a quirky experience curated, performed and managed entirely by children.

Every May, see Singapore transform into an arts and culture mecca and let your imagination run free at the Singapore Arts Festival 2012.
