Staying in the Tanglin Area

By: kimberly on 11 Apr 2011
The major shopping belt of Singapore, Orchard Road, is primarily made up of three areas, starting from the Tanglin area, the Orchard area and then the Dhoby Ghaut area. There are plenty of of hotels in the Tanglin area, with Orchard Road and the Botanic Gardens just a short walk away.

Upon entering the Tanglin area, the first few hotels would be The Regent Singapore, Traders Hotel Singapore as well as the Four Seasons Hotel, with the Hilton Hotel and Orchard Parade Hotel just opposite. Each of these hotels offers comfortable rooms that would be haven to return to after a long day of sightseeing and shopping.  For a truly luxurious experience, stay at the St Regis Hotel with elegant furnishings and impeccable service. Do a spot of shopping in  this area and pick out stylish furniture or children's toys and clothing.

If you like the area but fear it may be too noisy, try out Orchard Hotel or Shangri-La Hotel on either side of Delfi Orchard. With chic and modern amenities in the hotels, be assured of a blissful night's sleep in luxurious surroundings. The somewhat infamous Orchard Towers is nearby, a popular nightspot with tourists. The Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel sits right behind the Orchard Towers on Claymore Road. Shopping centres like Delfi Orchard, Palais Renaissance are great for finding evening gowns or formal attire, or even for tailors.

With a host of restaurants along the stretch of Orchard Road, you're minutes away from a hearty meal and checking out the pubbing scene in Singapore. Staying in this area is slightly more affordable than its counterparts a little further down the road.
