Shopping at Holland Village
Commonly referred to as Singapore's unofficial expatriate hangout, Holland Village is a juxtaposition between the modern local flavors of hawker food and newsstands against the aromatic air of red wine, cafes and restaurants. The same can be said for its shopping options. Ranging from unique Asian household items, antiques, boutique shops, manicurists, massage parlors to inexpensive shoes and clothings, Holland Village has been a dubbed a bohemian enclave that embraces both the old and the new. Be charmed by the many knick knacks, beachwear and accessories. Moving a little uphill, you will notice a few boutique shops located above the pubs and restaurants that will tickle your fancy. Check out the range of cheap factory outlet clothings located in front of the main road. there's also a Body Shop and a quaint looking gift shop which sells everything from Christmas and Halloween costumes to batteries and rattan baskets.
The Holland Road Shopping Centre is famous for its oldest furniture tenant, Lim's Art and Craft, which features a wide variety of glassware, Asian crafts and antiques. Holland Road Shopping Centre also features a Cold Storage supermarket, several art galleries, bohemian type clothing and accessories and similar Asian furnishings that can be shipped back to your home address upon request. Located opposite Holland Road Shopping Centre is the slightly upscale Chip Bee Gardens - home to some Italian restaurants, quirky fashion stores, gourmet stalls and art galleries.
With the opening of the Holland Village MRT Station (CC21) on the Circle Line in 2011, it looks like Holland Village will continue to be a popular hangout for locals, expatriates and tourists alike.
The restaurant called La Nona has a 50% discount off all menu items at lunch hours! They don't advertise it, they just subtract from your bill, and the food is excellent.
