Staying in the Marina Bay Area

By: joyceho on 11 Apr 2011
The recent development around Marina Bay area aims not only to accommodate businessmen and high-rollers but also provides a good starting point for any visiting tourist who wishes to be in the thick of Singapore’s downtown district minus the hustle and bustle of the shopping strip.

Centrally located and connected to the major MRT lines, the Marina Bay area is home to a few iconic landmarks including the Old Supreme Court, The Old Parliament House, the Padang and, more recently, the Marina Barrage and Helix Bridge.

Part of Singapore’s latest 'integrated resort', the Marina Bay Sands Hotel is the largest hotel here, offering over 2,500 rooms and suites in an impressive 55-storey building. Delegates can choose from three different types of room and up to 10 exclusive suites coupled with all the amenities required from business to leisure.

While not all of us can afford that type of high-end luxury, there are neighbouring accommodation options that do just as well in providing top-notch service and amenities. Established names such as Marina Mandarin Singapore, Mandarin Oriental Singapore, Pan Pacific Hotel, Ritz-Carlton and Conrad Singapore have also been critically applauded by many.

Constantly revamping itself with the latest in technology and comfort, the hotels, with strict hospitality and service, have proven over the years that Asian graces and generosity will never go out of style.

Alternatively, live in one of Singapore’s oldest landmarks - the Fullerton Hotel. Offering five-star luxurious accommodation, this monumental hotel has been proven hard to beat with its 400 rooms and suits overlooking the stunning city skyline, the Esplanade and Marina Bay Sands. Guests also get to enjoy its unbeatable close proximity to Boat Quay, Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay and the Asian Civilisations Museum.

Following suit is the newcomer Fullerton Bay Hotel. Situated at the historic Clifford Pier, the Fullerton Bay Hotel is the first waterfront hotel in Singapore. Consisting of 100 rooms and five ethnically themed suites and a Presidential Suite, guests are treated with an up-close-and-personal view of the entire Marina Bay with its floor-to-ceiling windows.
