Staying in Newton/Bukit Timah

If the hotel rates in the city centre is too pricey to your liking, there are more mid-range hotels around the fringes that are just as good as the ones along Orchard Road.

Located at along Scotts Road after Goodwood Park Hotel, Newton is another area worth considering. One train station away from Orchard Road itself, Newton is also home to the famous Newton Circus Hawker Centre. Scotts Road itself consists of the traditional five-star Sheraton Towers and service apartment Cairnhill Tower. Easily distinguishable by its three murials on top of the porch front, Hotel Royal at Newton Road is an affordable three-star hotel located less than 10 minutes to the shopping belt by bus.

Along Bukit Timah Road, the boutique breadfast and bed L Residence with their luxurious furnishings topped with their personal breakfast offerings. Guests at L Residence also get to enjoy the Botanical Gardens at close proximity, perfect for a quick run or a picnic with the family.

Hoping onto the bandwagon is no-frills budget VIP hotel located just off Bukit Timah Road at Balmoral Crescent.

Slightly further down, the Novena and Balestier area is also some home to some hotels perfect for business and leisure travellers to get a quick escape away from the city buzz while remaining close to the city area for easier accessibility. Coupled with Velocity and United Square Shopping Mall, Novena is an ideal for families travelling with kids who may wish to talk on supplies nearby.

Aqueen Hotel Balestier, Value Hotels Balestier and Quality Hotel are the three main hotel chains that have made their mark in Novena. Simple, affordable and modern, all three hotels are subsidiaries to bigger and larger hotel chains. Quality Hotel in particular is a member of Choice Hotels International - one of the largest and most successful chain franchisers in the world.
