The Screening Room, The Arts House

By: joyceho on 01 Feb 2012
1 Old Parliament Lane, The Arts House, Singapore

(+65) 6332 6900

Operating Hours:
Monday to Saturday: 10am - 8pm.

Tucked within the Arts House, the Screening Room is an intimate 75-seat film theatre. Once a space for administrative duties in the Old Parliament House, the space has now been transformed into a cinema for screening independent films.

It presents a mix of domestic and international films, and hosts talks and regular workshops. The old flip-up chairs housed in the heritage building gives the Screening Room a quaint, old-school feel.

Established to provide support for independent filmmakers, the Screening Room gives budding auteurs a platform to organise film premieres and festivals. Some of the notable events that have been held here include the sell-out runs of Tan Pin Pin’s landmark documentary Singapore GaGa in 2005, the 2009 Italian Film Festival and the annual Singapore Sun Festival.

Check out The Screening Room's calendar and mailing list to find out what new titles are showing and the latest events on-site.
