Singapore Tourism

By: mckenwong on 07 Jul 2011
Much has been done in recent years to turn Singapore into a destination oozing with style and class. Attractions such as the two new integrated resorts (Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands), along with world-class events like F1 Night Races , have added a dash of vibrancy to the city.

Such efforts have paid off: Tourism receipts was $18.8 billion in 2010, compared with $12.4 billion in 2009. Some 1.1 million people visited Singapore in July 2010 alone, and overall tourist numbers have increased over the years, dipping slightly in 2008 during the onset of the recent global financial crisis.
Year Tourism Arrivals
2005 8,942,408
2006 9,748,207
2007 10,284,545
2008 10,115,638

The Singapore Government has set out to increase visitor arrivals to 17 million, and tourism receipts to $30 billion by 2015. What that essentially means is more projects to boost the country's infrastructure and tourism profile:

Recent Projects
Resorts World at Sentosa
Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort
Marina Bay Financial Centre
The Sail @ Marina Bay
Singapore Flyer
Gardens by the Bay
Marina Barrage

It also means that, where tourists are concerned, there's always something new happening in Singapore!
