Singapore is justifiably known around the world as the "garden city", where half of the island is covered in greenery. Meandering tree-lined roads interspersed with lush parks and gardens create a unique green ambience that has drawn accolades from around the world. To create a garden effect, fruit trees, flowering and fragrant plants are planted in parks, residential suburbs, schools and in the grounds of institutions such as hospitals, police stations and community centres.

There are parks located on the waterfront around reservoirs and along the coast, as well as gardens located in the heart of the city and heartlands. With so many different green spots around the island, Singapore's well-manicured parks and gardens are the perfect destination to take a breather from the fast-paced life of living in the city.
